Conveyorised Painting Plant - Manual / Automatic

Conveyorised Spray Painting Systems or Paint Booth for Continuous Production Process:
Quattro is mainly engaged into design of Conveyorised Spray Painting Plant, are especially suitable for painting of high volumes of components / products. Depends on size & weight of product to be painted, we define customized Material Handling, Pre-Treatment Zone, Painting Booth & Paint Curing Oven.
Conveyorised Spray Painting Plants are generally designed to achieve desired output in industry along with defined timeline. Conveyorised Painting Plant can be either manual or automatic. In case of manual / semi-automatic painting process, material handling will be automatic by means of conveyor and painting will be manual (through operator). In case of automatic Conveyorised spray painting plant, we can make painting automatic by means of reciprocator / robot. Generally, in case of auto painting, for linear shapes reciprocator is used and in case of complicated shapes robots are used.
Conveyorised Spray Painting Plant are mainly chemically resistant, mechanically durable, pleasant in appearance and finish painting is sought for by all quality seekers. Our system is designed to comply international safety norms (like European Standards, NFPA Standards, OSHA Norms) and local government regulations related with environmental control. Other goals are the best of product quality, minimum unit production cost, and conforming to emission control requirements. A high degree of automation has become a necessity for consistency in quality and to avoid the hazardous working environment demanded by the painting processes.
Conveyorised Spray Painting Plant is mainly consist of following –
  1. Material Handling of component (Overhead or Floor Based Conveyor – Continuous type or stop & go type / Transporter / Hoist / Motorized or Manual type Trolley)
  2. Pretreatment Plant (Dip / Spray Type) – PT process can be 3 tank process / 7 tank process / 11 tank process.
  3. Spray Painting Booth (Dip / Spray Type) – Painting process can be manual / automatic type.
  4. Paint Curing Oven – Electrically Heated / HSD fired / Gas fired
Why Conveyorised Painting Plant is used in Industry:

Increased production output:
It is one of the major benefit of conveyorised system that the demands increased production rates can be met easily by synchronization of Conveyor speed with other process / equipment.
The plant can operate round the clock without any increase in capital equipment; that is, a plant designed to produce a quantity in one shift of eight hours is capable of increasing the output three times by operating for three shifts.

Optimized design leads to effective utilization of space in plant:
A Conveyorised Painting Plant with an overhead conveyor for transportation of components will normally leave the floor area clear for storage and other movement of material.

Minimum Manforce:
Since handling is considerably reduced to mainly loading and unloading components, the employment of unskilled labour is reduced. Skilled operator will be mainly required part in case of Conveyorised painting plant, however now a days even skilled painting operators can be replaced with either reciprocator or painting robots (depends on application).

Operator’s convenience:
The product to be painted / sprayed are moved at a defined speed and accessible / convenient height. This leads to operator’s confirm for painting, and results in greater efficiency and increased output.

Supervision and Control:
This is automatically taken care of due to the defined conveyor speed and optimized design. Once the product is loaded, the conveyor carries it to the spray painting station where painting operator paint as the components pass in front of them. Oversprayed paint particles are collected in painting booth in exhaust system. No direct supervision is required to ensure the rated production. However, now a days in total automatic system, we can introduce SCADA / PLC Based system to track product movement at each point with data collection system.

Faster spraying:
Since, product handling is reduced, operator don’t need to wait till second product is being loaded. Operator can continuously focus only on painting as products to be painted will pass inside the booth in front of him.

Consistent, high quality finish: A Conveyorised system ensures operator to be focused on his job only which leads to high quality / up to some extend uniform quality as well. By accommodating paint mixing system and automatic painting system facility we can even put control on saving of paint which can be second necessary requirement by any organization who have high paint consumption in a day.

Saving in paint :
Practical paint saving is possible by means of buying volume of paint. And second way is to use proper painting equipment for painting which ensures less overspray of paint particles

Reduced painting cost:
In a Conveyorised Plant Painting cost gets reduced by considering all required factors / parameters like painting equipment, operator cost, labor cost etc. Total Conveyorised painting plant mainly consist of design, development, manufacture and installation of pre-treatment equipment, spray booths, flash-off chambers, stoving equipment, conveyors and spray painting equipment, water dry off oven, paint baking oven.

Dry Type Spray Painting Booth & Types

Dry Type Spray Painting Booth is used where mainly paint consumption or production is limited. In dry type booths filters are used as media to arrest paint particles. Filtration level of filters is kept up to 25 Micron. These filters are generally glass fiber filters and replaceable type. In Dry Type Spray Painting Booth once filters are blocked, filters needs to be replace. So this becomes periodic activity to replace filters. More the paint consumption, higher the frequency of changing filters. In order to increase frequency of changing filters in Dry Type Spray Painting Booth, we use metal baffles / C-clams (MS / SS) as primary filters before glass fibre filters which helps to arrest heavy particles there only and tiny particles upto 25 Microns are arrested in secondary / glass fibre filters. This method is also known as dual stage filtration method in Dry Type Spray Painting Booth.
Dry Type Spray Painting Booth is known for low maintenance. Dry Type Spray Painting Booth aesthetically looks better for years compare to water wash spray painting booth, if regular maintenance of booth is taken care.

Optional Facilities –

  1. Positively Pressurized Dry Type Spray Painting Booth with Fresh Air Supply Unit.
  2. Dry Type Spray Painting Booth with Oven (Booth cum Oven): The same booth can be used as Paint Curing Oven.
  3. Negatively Dry Type Spray Painting Booth with filters on top of booth.

In case of Dry Type Spray Painting Booth, depends on direction of air draft there are following types of booth –

  1. Side Draught Dry Type Spray Painting Booth: Side Draught booth have air draft from front side and available in standard sizes.
  2. Down Draught Dry Type Spray Painting Booth: Down draught booth have air draft toward gravity. In this case we can either have filtration tank above FFL or we can have pit which helps to make floor flushed operational moments.
  3. Semi Down Draught Dry Type Spray Painting Booth: Semi Down Draught Booth have draft from both sides inside booth and have limitation of 5 mtrs in width.

Application of Downdraft Dry Type Spray Painting Booth is mainly into heavy parts and large size parts painting like earth moving equipment, large size transformers, wind mill components, chassis of vehicles, trailers, railway wagons etc. Small size side draught dry type booths are used for batch type painting, lab application for testing on panels, small components etc. These booths are mainly demanded by paint manufacturing industry for spray painting facility inside testing lab.

Types of Spray Painting Booth & Water Wash Type Spray Painting Booth

Types of Spray Painting Booth:
Based on paint usage in industry, spray paint booth is mainly divided into 2 parts though filtration methods. First type of spray painting booth is water wash spray paint booth or wet type booth in which filtration is through water and second type is dry type spray painting booth in which filtration is through paint arrestance filters.

Water Wash Spray Painting Booth / Wet Type Booth

Wet Type / Water Wash Type Spray Painting Booth is used in high production / continuous type production systems / plants where paint particles are arrested through integration of water circulating filtration media & highly efficient air exhaust system. As a thumb rule, Water Wash spray painting booths are generally used where paint consumption is more than 10 Litres / day.
Water wash spray paint booths are either pump or no-pump type water wash booth, enclosed type model or conveyorised models. Standard Water Wash Painting Booths are utilized for high volume paint usage, medium or large sized components and batch processes.
Water Wash Painting Booth is designed / composed of water tank or over spray paint collection disposal tank (which can be in MS / GI / SS), eliminators (baffles) to arrest gaseous form particles, saw tooth plates, washing chamber and Exhaust system. Water Wash Painting Booth can be made so that it can comply all pollution control board norms as well as OSHA, NFPA 33 and other related norms. In case of Water Wash Spray Painting Booth sludge of over sprayed paint particles is collected in collection tank and can be disposed easily.

If you are already using water wash type spray painting booth, it is very important to maintain pH level of water inside spray painting booth. You can make water alkaline mixing booth additives in water which are available with few chemical manufacturers in market.
Water Wash Painting Booth with water curtain or water screen (available in mild steel or stainless steel versions),
Optional Facilities,

  1. Water Wash Booth with Fresh Air Supply Unit
  2. Water Wash Booth with Paint Sludge Removers, specially recommended for paint consumption over 100 liters/day.
